To all Wimborne Club Members and Supporters
I am sure you will be pleased to learn that at the recent meeting of East Dorset District Council Planning Committee, the application submitted by Gleesons Strategic Land Limited, which includes the new community sports facilities, was approved by seven votes to one.
Whilst this is a huge milestone in the process, as in addition to the planning approval, it also provides Wimborne RFC with the financial support to deliver the facility, there are still many proverbial hurdles to be jumped.
Initially Gleesons will be required to complete a Planning Agreement with the new Council (as East Dorset merges with the County Council) which will set out all the matters they will be have to undertake in implementing the approval. This will include either the direct or financial provision of various elements of the sports pitches, clubhouse and ancillary works necessary for the occupation and use of the site in due course.
This agreement will in turn set out the programme for building the new houses and the sports facilities over a number of years, and we are advised that this programme will be finalised by the early summer months.
