Dear All,

It hardly seems like 9 weeks ago that the reality of this dreadful pandemic took a grip on us all.

As is normal there remains plenty going on behind the scenes at the Club, all be it, inline with the latest Government Guidelines.

As many of you will be aware, the club AGM due in early July has now been put back to August 5th, our club rules stipulate that this needs to be done by the end of September so we are not in any need to panic just yet. I am sure that you will have seen and read the financial hardship many like clubs are currently facing with the season closing so abruptly. I am very pleased to say that the years of excellent financial management has not placed us in this category and further it is our intention to be fully open for business as soon as possible.

You will also be aware that we are currently trying to fill, a number, of critical positions as part of the club management team. It is with great disappointment that I announce that despite advertising these on, several occasions, we are yet to receive a single note of interest. This being the case and without stating the obvious we are a club which survives upon the help and assistance of its membership on a voluntary basis, without your help and assistance it will become increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to provide the environment we all enjoy today – so please, have a think isn’t it really about time you put something back ?

On the pitch, you will be aware that we are currently seeking a new head coach and pleasingly we have received several external notes of interest which we are following up in due process.

SW Rugby have published the 2020/2021 League Structures which confirms that we will be playing our rugby in Southern Counties South next season along with many of our local clubs. I am sure that there will BE some very passionate games at Leigh Park next season to say the very least.

With all the above now said I would like to close with a note to our players, enjoy your next few weeks and then lets get to work, it is very important that we return to rugby in the best possible shape, fit strong and very much ready to perform. We have some very big plans for our senior rugby across all three teams, Wimborne RFC remains a very strong competitive club and it is our intention to deliver all that we can to enable a very competitive environment for all.

Kind regards and Stay Safe

Roger Whyle
Chairman
