Head Coach, Matt Sturgess, is fully aware of the challenge his high-flying Wimborne squad faces this Saturday as fellow pace-setters Old Tiffinian’s make the journey to Leigh Park.

Speaking before this weekend’s fixture, Matt said, “It is a big challenge this weekend with Old Tiffs coming to Wimborne.  We are all looking forward to a very tough game but very much taking it a game at a time and not getting beyond ourselves.”

Momentum is so important in sport, and this top of the table clash is a mouthwatering prospect. Matt added’ “We had a really good pre-season – both players and coaching team - it is a great group on and off the pitch and we have started the season well. But we know that big challenges lie ahead starting with the Old Tiffs game on Saturday.”

Wimborne captain, Cam Taylor, agreed, “Old Tiffinians will be a different test for us this weekend. We know they’re a strong side and we’ll need to be at our best to build on the start we’ve made this season.

It’s a challenge we’re really looking forward to and a good opportunity to see where we’re at as a squad.”

Wimborne are without talismanic forward, Tim Ellis, this weekend, so Harry Duffield will move a little further ‘back’ in the pack while Louis Allum resumes at hooker. Elsewhere, the ever-reliable Ash Taylor starts on the wing, while Flynn Drummond and Henry Turner’s return to the squad will add significant value from the bench.

Wimborne’s 2nd XV make the short journey to Meyrick Park to face old adversaries Oakmeadians, in what promises to be a thunderous affair. Wimborne found a way to eventually overcome Yeovil last time out and Hari Teversham’s troops will be hoping to maintain their early league momentum on Saturday.

Lead coach, Barry Maidment highlighted the youthful structure of his squad, "Both Oaks and us have a strong history of developing younger players and the group we have out this weekend include a number of players recently graduated from our Senior Academy".

Both matches kick off at 3pm.
